"M" is for "Missional"

Tom Clegg and Warren Bird, in their book Lost in America, offer some interesting facts about religion in the U.S.:

1) The largest church in the world is in Lagos, Nigeria (not the U.S.)
2) The second largest chruch in the world is in Seoul, Korea (again, not the U.S.)
3) The largest Bhuddist temple in the world is in Boulder, CO.
4) The largest Transcendental Meditation training center is in Fairfield, Iowa.
5) The largest Muslim Training center is in New York City.
6) The United States has the eighth largest Hindu population.

(Clegg and Bird, 21-22)

So, if you didn't think you were a missionary... surprise! We live in one of the most religiously diverse countries in the world. And the two largest Christian churches aren't even on our soil!

This is why at Compass, our methods must always change so that our message can speak clearly to a changing culture. While the above facts might be discouraging to some folks, personally I'm fired up because that means God has called us to this place for this time to do his work!
